by Dr. Richard Dew
Rachel’s Cry is a journey through grief. The author’s (Dr. Richard Dew) world was turned upside down in June 1992 when his youngest son, a star college athlete and honor student, was randomly chased down and brutally murdered by young raciest hoodlums. To help overcome his grief, Dr. Dew became active in The National Conference of Compassionate Friends (a self-help group of parents who have lost children) and wrote poetry as a form of self-therapy. Rachel’s Cry evolved from his working through the stages of grief—shock, denial, confusion, anger, guilt, depression, turning point and restoration. The result is highly acclaimed and comforting to those whose lives are in the midst of grief.
