This book was an excellent example of how to write clearly about an extended family and the research was fantastic. I admired the careful details regarding allied families. I am the family genealogy for one brach of the Godin line (Gaudin). There are three areas when the Gaudin line merges into the Dupre line
1. Marie Ann Gaudin married Antoine Alexandre Dupre dit Terrebonne.
2. Rosalie Gaudin dit Lincourt married Jean Alexandre Dupre dit Terrebonne and
3. Francesca Godin Gaudin married Gilbert Antoine Dupre.
Rosalie Godin dit Lincourt is the half sister of my direct ancestor Edouard Gaudin (c 1770 Ascension Parish (ASC-4-301. and the nephew of Charles Godin. Charles was appointed tutor for Edouard and Rosalie upon the death of their father, Joseph Gaudin dit Lincour.
Now my question for the author: How are the Dupre and Gaudin families tied to the Biloxi-Chitamacha Tribes other than living in the same vicinity? The Biloxi-Chitamacha tribal website gives a details history of th two families (Dupre-Godin) and implies they are part of the leadership and history of the tribe but I can find no sources of Indian history to back up this claim. Any additional information?
Many thanks for a book extremly well done.
